RTI International is one of the world's pre-eminent institutions for independent research, development, and technical services, addressing complex challenges in health, education, social policy, and technology globally.
I was contracted by RTI Technology Ventures, an internal group piloting products for use by RTI and their clients, to help launch UPMod.
RTI's thesis is that modeling software is not built to be easily distributed. Whether using Excel, R, Matlab, or other tools — distributing data in a flexible, visual way is difficult & expensive.
That drastically reduces the potential impact of meaningful research.
RTI's team built UPMod, the "Unified Platform for Modeling", a powerful platform that ingests, understands, and makes configurable any data model from the major research tools used today.
I contributed to the Vue.js + Python powered platform to bring the interactive interface to launch.
The platform enables a reviewer to see a data model, tweak the inputs & assumptions, and see the output visualized.
